Have you enjoyed one of our books secondhand?

Second-hand bookshelf made by John Blake

So much goes in to the creation of a new book: months, or even years, of work by the author giving of their unique experience, inspiration and talent; copyediting and proofreading by skilled professionals; typesetting; original artistic design combining a wide range of practical skills; printing and the associated costs; marketing and publicity to help readers find the book; and distribution so that they can buy one. We are a tiny business with just a handful of people to perform all these functions vital to bringing our books to you, the reader, and if you have enjoyed this book second-hand, sadly you have made no contribution to the costs of that process at all.

That's great! Here at Castle Sefton Press, we too love second-hand books. And we are very aware of the need to reduce consumption of physical resources and make the best use of every book printed. We are also glad that the sale of many second-hand books supports a wide range of charities.

But without new books, there would be no second-hand ones to enjoy.

The good news is

that you can now support our work producing original new

books and still enjoy eco-friendly second-hand copies by making a donation here. Less than the price of a coffee would make a big difference to us!

Make a contribution.

Give something towards the production of the second-hand book you have just enjoyed. Make it possible for the authors, artists, designers and publishers to create original new work for everyone to enjoy.

Please note: in the interests of transparency, we need to make donors aware that Castle Sefton Press may receive a very small contribution from second-hand copies bought from World of Books and Litalist through the AuthorSHARE scheme. You can read more about the scheme and what we might receive here.
